are the one accessory that can change your cool vibe instantly. The latest in eyewear trends are hitting the stores as we speak. However, while the fashion factor may play into what sunglasses you wear, it’s also important to choose quality eyewear that will protect your eyes. This means sunglasses that filter out at least 99 percent of UVA and UVB rays. You should also consider wearing fuller wraparound frames as another way to protect your eyes from sun damage. So you ask, what’s the hottest trend in shades now? Round shapes are huge, and they are very trendy. It’s also possible that bright colors in frames and lenses will be big trends for the coming season. Eyewear is really making a bold statement now

The Wayfarer is Way Cool

February 20th, 2009

The Wayfarer is Ray-Ban’s most popular and quite often copied style of fashion sunglasses. The Wayfarer was first introduced back in 1952 and was popularized by none other than James Dean and other Hollywood celebrities. Wayfarers were made with new technology in lightweight plastics, and were one of the first designs to feature plastic frames and thick temples. To design critics, the distinctive trapezoidal frame spoke a non-verbal language that resembled an unstable dangerousness. Whatever the reason, the Wayfarer and Ray-Ban are doing quite well for themsleves. To learn more about the Wayfarers, you can go to the Ray-Ban website and see all 19 colors of Wayfarer.

Sunglasses for the “Angels”

February 6th, 2009

Looking for a new trendy style of sunglasses? Have you checked out the Angel collection yet? This fine collection comes from the same leading San Diego-based sunglasses company that created the trendy Anarchy line. They originally engineered their sunglasses for the sports enthusiast who wants eyewear with optimal functionality. Quickly gaining in popularity, they evolved over the last decade for a broader consumer base and have successfully blended aesthetic value with the same level of incredible quality. While remaining top-of-the-line performance sunglasses similar to Ray Ban, they are now also best in fashion. The designers collaborated together to come up with a more accessible look that appeals to nearly everyone. Angel sunglasses are apart of a specialty line that came out of these efforts and are designed specifically for women. It has a wide variety of models that range from polarized high-performance sunglasses to those that are geared more towards the discerning fashionista. And of course these distinctive models are ideal since they offer 100% UVA and UVB protection. With their sturdy polycarbonate lens material, you can trust that your eyes will be protected against the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. You should give the “Angels” a good long look.

The History of Sunglasses

November 5th, 2008

Did you know that sunglasses weren’t always used to protect our eyes from the sun. The history of sunglasses dates back to ancient China and Rome as early as the 12th century. Sunglasses did not undergo many changes until about the eighteenth century because of the work of James Ayscough. He experimented with tinted lenses in spectacles. Then, in 1936, sunglasses became polarized when Edwin H. Land began using his patented Polaroid filter when making sunglasses. For more on the history of sunglasses, click here.

A pair of sunglasses can come in very handy. There is the traditional and the most important purpose, to protect your eyes from the sun. Then there are other uses. Do you want to avoid your ex? Sunglasses can double as a shield. Did you have a rough night of partying? Your shades will hide the telltale red eyes. Have you been crying because the stock markets have destroyed your wealth? Or maybe it was just perceived wealth. Your shades will conceal those puffy eyes. What about being over-botoxed? Wear your shades until you get your facial expressions back. Sunglasses with a Media Player

September 21st, 2008

The Thanko All In One Sunglasses out of Japan are the latest sunglasses craze. They look more 3D clunky than Prada sleek. However, what else would you expect from a pair of shades that incorporate a media player?

The glasses are capable of reading MP3 and WMA audio formats, as well as playing video formats MP4, MPG, AVI, and ASF. That means you can listen to music or watch movies (at a squinty 432×240 resolution) on the specs themselves. This is no Cinemax, to be sure, but the glasses could be a fun diversion on a train or park bench if you don’t mind the bulk. Note to would be wearers: please lay off the films while crossing the street.

Audio files, videos, and photos are stored in a miniSD card loaded on the flank of the glasses, which come with a remote control, AC adapter, earphones, USB cable for charging the device and transferring files, and carrying case. They also come with four equalizer presets and a lithium ion battery. Oh, and they go for, get this, $364. I know, for that amount you could get an iPhone.

Kanye West Spends $15,000 to get Sunglasses Shipped

September 2nd, 2008

Anne Lu - Celebrity News Service News Writer

Los Angeles, CA (BANG) - Kanye West reportedly spent $15,000 getting 50 pairs of his favorite sunglasses shipped to America. The “Stronger” singer - who is a huge fan of Italian shades company Carrera - was so desperate to get his hands on the exclusive eyewear that he paid the staggering amount to ensure delivery before the new range was released in the U.S. A source said: “Kanye loves Carrera sunglasses. He thinks they are trendy and make him look really suave. He was so determined to secure the delivery that he paid the $15,000 bill without even asking for a discount.”

Kanye - who shot to fame as a style icon when he wore a series of horizontal-slatted color aviator sunglasses - recently announced his fashion company Pastelle is set to team up with Australian label Ksubi to release a new range of sunglasses. He said: “I love the sunnies Ksubi has produced over the years, and it’s an honor to collaborate with them on this first installment of Pastelle frames.” The line, which will feature limited edition gold frames, will launch worldwide in October.
